Vancouver

In four days I fly to Germany.

Why Germany?

I am a German citizen, so I thought it would be the easiest and smartest place to start, but hell I'll go anywhere in the EU that work takes me to. I have been living in Vancouver for twenty years, I love it here. It's beautiful, fun (most of the time and when you have money) and I also have the most wonderful friends and family here.
But, I have been craving a change in my professional life for about three years now and never did anything about it because no one actually does what they dream of! I finally decided it was bullshit to dream of something and never make it happen. I saved money for half a year and am taking a year off from Arts Umbrella to live in Europe. I'm terrified but in the best way possible, not like when I punctured a hole in my freezer and it started leaking Freon gas and I was sure I was done for...

I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't actually speak German, though I can mock my mother's accent to perfection.

My Itinerary:
Fly into Duesseldorf- June 30th, 2010
Train to Koeln- July 1st, 2010
Train to Koblenz- July 4th, 2010
Train to Mannheim- July 7th, 2010
Train to Stuttgart- July 8th 2010: I will visit my entire extended family for nine days. I hope at least one of them has a cat...
Train to Wien- July 17th, 2010: I will be taking four workshops at Impulstanz.
Forsythe Repertoire with Francesca Harper
Release Ballet with Antony Rizzi
More Forsythe Repertoire with Antony Rizzi
Contemporary Technique with Ori Flommin
It just so happens that my friends Amber Barton, Josh Martin, Lisa Gelley and my beloved Barbara Murray (the second whore) will be in Wien for bits of the festival too! I hope to also check out Budapest while I am so close, we shall see.
Train to Prague- August 7th, 2010
Train to Dresden- August 11th, 2010
Train to Berlin- August 14th, 2010: I will park here if nothing else comes up along the way in my travels.

All I can say tonight is; I will miss my cat (Chester), parents and students.

  1. Lina! I'm so glad that you are keeping a blog about your adventures. I'll be bookmarking your page under 'work distractions'... ahem... 'research'.
