Once I figured out where the Ladies room was, Prague really turned around for me. Well that's not true, while figuring out where the Ladies was was actually when it turned around. I had had a shower in the Mens, luckily no one walked in whilst I douched (which is what showering is in German by the way. I know, I laughed and nearly choked on my beer too!) Later that night as I was getting ready to go to the Palladium to buy my runners I walked into what I thought was the Ladies and there was a man, naked, in the shower... poor him... lucky me. Of course when I looked later, when I wasn't quite so tired... they were clearly labeled Mens and Ladies. Oh well, I can blame it on being from another land.
That moment exactly was when I knew I was going to like Prague. (not really, but I'm trying to be interesting) My first day, I went on a free tour of the city, it was really just a few places but there is so much interesting, messed up stuff that happened in Prague. I really learned a lot, got to walk around for two hours and fifteen minutes aaaaaand I made two friends! Two really sweet guys from the States, Colorado to be exact, Rockies boys! Their names were Mason and David but I called them Mason and Dixon (in my head) We went for a beer at this super cool bar where you could pour your own from a tap in the table that kept your tab for you. After some bubblies, I went home and Skyped Megan Fay and then went upstairs to make dinner for myself.
Over a delicious Ichiban soup and corn cakes with cheese, I made yet another friend! Thomas from Rotterdam. He is studying something (I forget) but really wants to be a clown. I told him I knew a clown from the Olympics show in 2006 and we got to talking. We ended up playing cards, he taught me Egyptian's Labyrinth and drinking Czech beer all night. What a fellow, very nice, I am really liking the Dutch, they are incredibly open minded, accepting and very funny. He unfortunately left the next day but he's going to let me know when there are clowning workshops in Toulouse and I am seriously thinking of participating in one.
The next day, I went on the Castle tour with Mason and Dixon. This one wasn't free, about ten Euros, but four hours long and once again, so informative. We made friends with our tour guide, also from the States, North Carolina to be precise and he took us out to some very sketchy yet amazing pubs that night. He brought along his lady friend from San Diego who was just so lovely... I got home around three thirty that morning and missed breakfast.
I love my third days in most places because these are the days that I decide to bum around, drink lots of coffee, read my book, etc. So this is what I did. I went to bed fairly early because I was pretty bagged from the evening previous only to wake up at two AM to the sound of someone throwing up into a plastic bag. Luckily I was up on a top bunk and could fake like I didn't wake up. The funny thing was, it wasn't the heaving kind, she literally just pulled a Monty Python and opened her mouth and out it came. I have never thought that this was actually possible, but I am discovering that everything is possible...
