My freind Meaghen Buckley in Vancouver, whom I have known for, gosh, sixteen years (!?!) since I was twelve, or was I thirteen? Anyway, Meaghen is currently studying at Emily Carr in Vancouver. I believe a recent task she has been given is write out an appropriate artists statement, which I know from writing bios for dance is unnecessarily difficult. She and her friends stumbled across this website which she then shared on Facebook. I tried it out and have to say that it's the best damn write up I could have ever come up with. Sadly, I didn't come up with it...

Lina Fitzner's Artist Statement
Through my work I attempt to examine the phenomenon of Ren as a metaphorical interpretation of both Salvidor Dali and fucking.
What began as a personal journey of bloodyism has translated into images of burrito and hand that resonate with Chinese people to question their own redness.
My mixed media cat embody an idiosyncratic view of pope, yet the familiar imagery allows for a connection between Elvis, cats and tacos.
My work is in the private collection of Vincent Price who said 'oh my!, that's some real hideous Art.'
I am a recipient of a grant from Folsom Prison where I served time for stealing mugs and tie clips from the gift shop of The Pergamon. I have exhibited in group shows at Burger King and Pompidou, though not at the same time. I currently spend my time between my bathroom and Berlin.
